Telephone improvements in 1963 are the subject of today’s Kapuskasing History Feature.
From March 27, 1963 in the Northern Times a photo shows Joseph Sandrin local manager of Northern Telephone watching Sid More from Etelco (E-tel-co) Canada. Moore was installing additional terminating cables on the main frame in the company’s office in Kapuskasing.
The alterations provided 300 new lines and 400 new telephone numbers for the subscribers in the Kapuskasing area. It was the second major addition to the telephone facilities since 1957.
Our thanks as always to the Kapuskasing Public Library for their help with our weekly history feature.
