In this week’s Kap history segment, we hear from several residents regarding a decision by local grocery stories to stay open on Fridays until 9 pm.
The story was in the May 1st 1963 edition of the Northern Times. Carmen Kowaluk says the move will be an advantage for everyone except for the staff at the stores. She adds that she hopes the employers will compensate the employees for their time.
Lorraine Daily said it was a wonderful decision especially for the people who have to work until five or six o’clock. She adds that it will allow them to take their time shopping and do it properly.
France Boissonnault said that it’s a wonderful idea for those who have to work a six day week. She adds people can take more time to do their grocery shopping and do it leisurely.
Simone Tremblay notes that out of towners can do their shopping in Kap while they are getting other items instead of multiple trips.
