This week’s Kapuskasing history segment looks back at funeral services for a popular doctor.
The June 12th 1963 edition of the Northern Times reported that a large crowd believed to be the biggest in the town’s history attended the service and funeral for Dr. Maurice Dupont. He died suddenly in the first week of June at the age 51 in Sudbury.
Dr. Dupont had practiced in town for 23 years and was well known and respected for being very active. He and his family moved from Quebec to Kap in 1924.
Dr. Dupont was a graduate of Medicine at Laval University and had just celebrated his 25th year in medical practice.
