The former Agrium phosphate mine west of Kapuskasing has a new owner.
A story from the Canadian Cattlemen magazine website reports that British Columbia based Infracon Construction Inc purchased the site and plans to invest what it calls serious money into the former phosphate mine. The acquisition also includes the processing plant in Matheson.
The former Kapuskasing mine closed in 2013, but Avalon Advanced Minerals, a junior mining company, had made an inquiry about buying the location two years ago. In July of last year, Avalon ended discussions with Agrium.
The new subsidiary company Kap Minerals will be headed up by Infracon CEO Geoff Hampson.
