This week’s Kapuskasing history segment is all business. In fact, a photo in the August 11th 1962 edition of the Northern Times shows the executive of the new East End Merchant’s Association.
It was led by president Joe Nadon, Vice-President John Propopick (Pro-po-pick) and secretary Don MacAskill. More than 20 people attended a planning meeting at town hall. The association was formed to help promote business in the East End of Kapuskasing.
The first job of the new group was to hold a contest and create a new name for the shopping area.
Thank you to the Kapuskasing Public Library for use of its archives for our segment.
