Kap Curling Club launches Wednesday night scramble

The Kapuskasing Curling Club is launching a new Wednesday night league as a way to attract and mentor new members. The Scramble league begins play on Wednesday Nov. 27 at 7:30 pm for a four week stretch.

Chairman Justin Francoeur says it’s a perfect opportunity for snow birds and those who have a busy schedule to enjoy the sport.

“During this league what happens is you are mixed up with people that you may not know or curlers of different levels,” he said. “Every team has a level playing field. When you play there is no competitive advantage. It’s really based on the social aspect of curling.”

Francoeur says he got the idea when he was going to school in Sudbury and looking for a curling league to join.

“I got to meet lots of new people,” he said. “It was a really really wonderful experience because I got to make curling buddies or to mingle socially with these people and it sort of facilitated my integration within the club.”

Registration fee is $60 for new members including a one time yearly association fee.
