La Fromagerie Kapuskoise took home several top awards at the recent Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.
The Kap company won prizes in three different categories including a first for best soft goat-sheep milk cheese. It also took home second for Saganash – best goat-sheep milk cheese and a third for Best Firm Hard Brush Drying Cheese.
Marketing agent Denis Nadeau says what helped them this year was the preparation and getting their cheese to the event.
“So we got someone to drive up there this year,” he said. “Normally we try to send it by Canada Post or whatever. We tried that a couple of times as we were testing the waters. The product doesn’t get there so good. This year we drove it and the results were there.”
Nadeau says these awards will certainly help them grow the business.
“But we’re also trying to increase our sales in Southern Ontario because that’s the big market,” he said. “The pandemic damaged our sales over there and we lost all of the restaurants and trying to restart again is difficult.”
