A couple days into training camp, the GM of the Hearst Lumberjacks junior hockey team is pleased with what he sees.
Jonathan Blier says newcomers are a good complement to the 14 returning players.
“They have that that family attitude that you look for from the get-g,” he remarks..”The bond between the guys is very good. We brought guys that brought something great to the team last year. We complemented that with a great bunch of new guys.”
Even this early, Blier is confident the Lumberjacks can be a team that can contend for this year’s NOJHL championship.
Asked about players to watch, the GM says to watch the whole team.
“Because I’m a team guy, I’m all about a collective effort to be that team, and when we do that as a team, then individual success comes along with it, too.”
The Jacks head to Thunder Bay this weekend for a pair of exhibition games against the Kam River Fighting Walleye. Kam River pays a return visit for two games in Hearst, Friday, September 6th and Saturday the 7th. The regular season begins September 13th.
