In Kapuskasing history: A 1962 fire that damaged three businesses.
The Wednesday, May 16th issue of the Northern Times carried a photo of firefighters battling flames on the previous Thursday.
It said the fire was of undetermined origin and broke out shortly before eight o’clock that morning in the roof of the Esquire Grill on McPherson Avenue. It was under control within minutes of the fire department’s arrival.
Two other businesses in the building – Bill’s Smoke Shop and Dor-Al’s Specialty Shoppe – suffered extensive smoke damage.
