We now know why the Hollinger Open Pit mine lookout in Timmins remains closed at the height of the visitor season.
Newmont Porcupine external relations manager Gerry Stinson says increased movement has been noticed in the north wall of the pit.
Work in the pit is also suspended. Stinson says while the movement is “worrisome”, there is no risk to the public.
The lookout, however, remains closed until further notice.
