Warm Belly Kitchen celebrating second birthday next week

Sunday is the second birthday for Kapuskasing’s Warm Belly Soup Kitchen, and a celebration is planned for next Thursday.

Coordinator Amanda Rickard says there will be a hot dog and hamburger lunch for the entire community.

She estimates that in its first two years, the kitchen has fed 13-thousand meals to whoever needed them.

“I would really like to share that the kitchen itself is currently not on a grant,” she says. “So everything that we’ve accomplished is just by the community.”

Coming soon: the kitchen and the Kap Food Bank will begin a campaign to have local groups and businesses sponsor a total of 52 lunches.  That means a contribution of $500.00 to pay for soup, salad, dessert and beverages for 140 people.
