A demonstration of solidarity Thursday on the OPSEU picket line at the Cochrane LCBO.
Members of the locals at liquor stores across the district joined the line, and marched to the polar bear statue on the way into town.
One of the members, Andrew Christensen, says it’s an important aesthetic in places where you don’t have larger stores with more staff close together.
“We’ve got people coming from Smooth Rock Falls and Kapuskasing like myself, and Moonbeam and sometimes Iroquois Falls, some of the folks here have gone down to Timmins.”
Christensen, who manages the Kapuskasing store, says the strike is for all Ontarians, protecting education, transit and health care.
“There’s a lot of profits that the LCBO brings to the province,” he remarks, “so it’s good for all of us if we can get this ironed out and get back to work.”
