Kap history: Algonquins attend training exercises at CFB Petawawa in 1962

Military reservists figure in our Kapuskasing local history feature this week.

The Northern Times of April 25th, 1962 carried a report and photo of members of “A” Squadron of the Algonquin Regiment attending tank firing exercises at CFB Petawawa earlier in the month.

The Kap contingent was under the command of Lt. John Shipman.

Lance Cpl. Ralph “Knobby” Walsh was a crew member on a Centurion tank with a 20-pound cannon.
