With the help of the Local Pet Valu store, Animal Rescue Kapuskasing raised $5,065 for its work during June’s Pet Appreciation Month.
ARK fundraiser Colleen Boucher calls the result “awesome”.
“We had brought some animals in on the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd and we had three cats that were adopted,” she tells My Kap-Hearst Now Dot Com. “We had two kittens that are reserved and we have some pending applications.”
There was also one dog that was adopted just before that weekend, but he made an appearance at Pet Valu anyway.
Boucher says 95% of what her group raises goes to veterinary care.
“And that’s because all of our animals are spayed and neutered, vet checked, dewormed, vaccinated and sometimes there’s other care that’s needed.”
That includes medication, surgery and dental cleaning.”
