Bachelor of Business Administration students at l’Université de Hearst campuses in Hearst, Kapuskasing and Timmins now have an option to help qualify them as chartered professional accountants.
They can take 13 online courses offered by the Rouyn-Noranda campus of l’Université de Québec.
UHearst rector Aurélie Lacassagne says it begins in second year.
“They can get their BBA and at the same time, get a certificate in accounting from the UQAT,” she says. “This will allow them to be on the right track to become a Chartered Professional Accountant with Québec’s CPA order.”
Lacassagne notes that the qualification would also help to meet Ontario CPA requirements.
“Honestly, if you have a CPA even with the Québec order, and you’re an Ontario employer, you’re still going to be pretty happy if you can get that person at the end of the day. The fiscal and accounting norms, a lot of them are international by principle.”
