Smooth Rock Falls town council has passed its municipal budget and it will see a tax increase of 10 per cent which four per cent higher of what it was last year. Water and sewer rates are actually going from 5.5 per cent in 2024 to 3 per cent this year.
A property assessed at $100,000 will see taxes will be go up by about $140 a year.
The town will spend just over $1.8 million on capital projects including $827,000 on streets. There is just over $494,000 going to upgrade water and wastewater treatment equipment. Funding is also headed towards enhancing park and recreation, community facilities and economic development for housing and beautification projects.
