New Democrat Guy Bourgouin is already back to work at Queen’s Park. Bourgouin took the seat in Mushkegowuk James Bay following the completion of a recount earlier this week. The margin of victory is believed to be between 7 and 10 votes over Conservative Dave Plourde. Bourgouin who is in Toronto at a caucus meeting, says having an election in winter is very difficult on everyone, especially campaigning in the cold weather.
“Even hard because I have five employees working for me, I loose they lose their jobs, that was extra stress on them and my family, the candidate’s family go through some stress especially election day,” he said.
Bourgouin says he’ll be taking a lot of concerns he heard on the campaign trail with him to Queen’s Park.
“Road safety which is the one we heard the most at doors, tariffs go without saying is a big concern.,” he said. “And health care, the lack of family doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners funding for hospitals.”
He will be sworn in as MPP later this month.
