A new heating systems at the Kapuskasing Curling club is the topic of this week’s local history segment.
It was reported in the April 24th, 1963 edition of the Northern Times that club members learned that the new heating system was being installed and should be ready for the season in the fall. Chairman of the building committee Bob Hall said that progress was being made and that a gas heating system would not just provide comfort for the curlers but it would do away with roof condensation which had plagued the club for years.
Club president George Ingram said that although the club had enjoyed a good year there were some problems with promoting interest in club competitions. He was confident that the new executive could come up with a solution to the problem.
He added that the membership would have to work hard to ensure the success of the Timiskaming and Northern Ontario Bonspiel that it was hosting.
