A long day and night came to an end for Hearst, Mattice and Val Cote Hydro One customers last night at about midnight when power was finally restored.
Close to 700 lost power at about 7 o’clock yesterday morning following two separate circuit breaks. Work crews from Hearst Power Distribution Corporation and Hydro One battled the elements of extremely cold temperatures to try and solve the issue.
Some had power return just after 10 pm while others had to wait until nearly midnight.
The Town of Hearst declared a state of emergency and warming stations were set up at a school, municipal office and the OPP station.
