Propane canister explodes, house catches fire, police treat as intimate partner violence

Ontario Provincial Police say a propane canister was intentionally lit on fire in Kapuskasing Tuesday night and exploded.

The Stewart Ave. incident is being treated as intimate partner violence, and a 30-year-old from Fauquier-Strickland has been charged.

Police and firefighters were called at about 6:00pm. The inside of the house caught fire, but the occupant was able to douse it before they arrived.

The suspect had left the scene and was located shortly after.
