Moonbeam Food Bank shelves filled following successful food drive

The Moonbeam Food Bank recently replenished its shelves thanks to hard work of several organizations.

The Volunteer Fire Department, Kapuskasing Food Bank and Friends of Remi Lake partnered in the special event that raised over 2,000 pounds of food and collected more than $9,600 in cash.

Remi Lake chairman Denis Berube says he was impressed with the food bank committee.

“The team at the food bank had a crew down there were amazing getting things organized and putting everything in place weighing the food and so on,” he said. “It was all and all a tremendous team effort.”

The food Bank is located in the Moonbeam Church and also serves Fauquier. Berube says volunteers visited several areas around the lake.

“We were approached again by the fire department and said sure we’d love to do it and recruited a super team of volunteers,” he said. “The volunteers went door to door on Lefebvre’s Peninsula, and also the northern part of the lake – Walker road Bayview, Rocky Point.”
