The Miss Kapuskasing Pageant is the focus of our weekly history segment.
We turn back to a July 4th 1962 edition of the Northern Times where 18 year old Patricia Spacek was chosen as the winner in front of a large crowd at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall.
Nine contestants took part in a variety of different categories and according to the story Spacek won out for her exceptional signing ability. Judging was based on personality, poise, beauty, dress, talent and deportment.
The runners-up were Lizette Paquin and Lucille Duquette. A special thank you to the Kapuskasing Public Library for their assistance with our segment.
