Torr Metals could start drilling west of Opasatika this winter or spring

The President and Chief Executive Officer of Torr Metals says a three year exploration permit at the Filion Gold Project near Opasatika allows them to continue promising work from late 2023.

Malcolm Dorsey says they’re still in the early stages but they hope to confirm where the highest concentration and depth of gold is in the area.

“With that we actually are looking at doing some further work this fall in preparation for potential drilling to follow,” he said. “That work is going to be centered around the western portion of the project area.”

The Filion gold project was believed to first have been discovered in the 1930s, but Dorsey says no extensive follow-up work has ever taken place. The project is about 261 square kilometres and located near the Highway 11.

“Drilling could be done in the winter time, it could be done in the spring,” he said. “All of that will be done in collaboration with the local communities and first nations. So we’ll be talking a lot to the people in the area, specifics of the area and best times to operate.”

He adds that jobs would be created to help in a variety of different areas. For further details you can visit the Torr Metals website and that link is on ours.
