The town of Moonbeam has a new mayor. Luc Leonard was chosen for the spot by councillors during a special meeting on Wednesday night. Leonard is no stranger to politics having served as a member of council from 2014-2018.
He says he can’t wait to get back to work.
“There is a good team on the go right now,” he said. “They have good councillors, great group of people to work with. I think it will be good for the town of Moonbeam.”
Leonard will be sworn in as mayor on Thursday, October 3rd. He says his experience as a councillor will serve him well.
“I was part of the official plan layout and it was a first for everyone and we learned from that so maybe next time around we have a chance to revise that official plan and adapt that better for the municipality’s needs.,” he said.
Leonard says affordability and housing are two issues on his agenda. He adds that people in smaller communities like Moonbeam have been getting beat up by the economy.
