United Way serves entire region

It’s the time of year to give some thought to donating to United Way North East Ontario.

From its Timmins office, regional manager Jennifer Gorman takes care of communities in our district.

You can donate directly, through payroll deduction or a national program.

“For example, starting next week, LCBO is doing an ‘Ask at the Cash’ in all those communities,” says Gorman. “A lot of our national banks, our federal government and our provincial government all support the campaign. So anything that’s raised in those communities we try to support through programs.”

Funding can only go to registered charities that provide programs to their clients.  Applications usually go out in December.

“I’m always here for support if they’re looking for help filling out the applications or what sreas they should identify, call me, I’m more than happy to help and the see we can make sure your application aligns.”

One example is the Good Food Box program. It’s a project of clients of the Iroquois Falls Adult Learning Centre for the Falls and Cochrane.
