Kapuskasing history: Local royalty in 1962

In Kapuskasing history this week: choosing Miss Kap 1962.

The Northern Times issue of Wednesday, July 4th reported on the capacity crowd two nights earlier at the Legion Hall, as 18-year-old Patricia Spacek was crowned during a holiday cabaret dance.

Her runners-up were Lisette Paquin and Lucille Duquette. All three were going on to the Miss Northern Ontario Pageant in Timmins on the 27th of that month.

Judges were Mrs. Anne Kelneck and Mrs. Carmel Cochrane, both from Timmins, and Mr. Leslie Short of Smooth Rock Falls.  Nine young women competed to be Miss Kap.

Thanks to the Kapuskasing Public Library for access to its archives.
