Kapuskasing Basketball Association is bouncing around ideas for this season

Work continues on a kids’ basketball league in Kapuskasing that went dormant during the pandemic.

Kapuskasing Minor Basketball Association executive member Susan Renaud (ruh-NO) says fall activities will include a recreational component focussed on skill development with a scrimmage at the end of each practice.

The association’s also looking into establishing club teams that travel to tournaments.

“So we’ve put out an interest survey and if we get enough interest,” Renaud points out, “we’ll see what age groups we’re able to possibly field a few teams in and give it a go.”

Renaud says in the spring, when other sports wrap up, a spring league will run.

”With defined teams and say kind of in April and May before everybody starts their summer holidays, kind of a little mining league for kids who’d like a chance to play in more of that type of setting.”

More information is on the Kapuskasing Basketball Association Facebook page, and in the audio of the interview posted below.
