The leader of the federal Conservative party says he’ll sue NDP MP Charlie Angus, if he repeats his claim that several Tory insiders are involved in the grocery and pharmaceutical industries.
Pierre Poilievre is on the road in Northeastern Ontario, staging rallies across the region. He says the themes are “axe the (carbon) tax”; build the homes; fix the budget and stop the crime.
From the road on Wednesday, he responded to criticism levelled at him the day before by Angus, the MP for Timmins-James Bay.
Angus said Poilievre has no plan to stop rising grocery prices because of party ties to the big chains. Poilievre says he doesn’t have to respond, Angus should, because as part of the deal propping up the minority Liberal government, he’s been in government the last two years.
“Under Charlie Angus, ‘Sellout’ Singh and Justin Trudeau, grocery prices have gone up 25% and Charlie Angus voted to give 14-million tax dollars to Loblaws for new fridges,” says the Tory leader.
“Charlie Angus should put a grocery bag over his head in shame,” he continues, “to repent for hiking taxes on food and serving government and corporate greed at the expense of his constituents.”
