Armwrestling is coming to the stampede and rodeo during the Porquis Fall Fair, the last weekend of August.
Organizer Dan Bellefeuille says it’s on Saturday, August 24th under a big tent on the fairground. So far, he’s expecting competitors from Iroquois Falls, Timmins, Kapuskasing, North Bay, Sudbury and Northwestern Québec. There’s no minimum age.
“I started this sport when I was 13 and I was winning in the adult classes,Bellefeuille says, “so if the young kids want to come out and get a shot at the adults, I mean, by all means.”
There are various male and female weight classes. The entry fee is $20.00 per arm and weight class.
“And all of the money that is collected from people, 100% goes back to the competitors. It’s all done voluntary. The set-up, all of our refs, it’s all volunteer.”
Bellefeuille adds that prizes will be award for first, second and third place in each category.
