Heat warning in effect for weekend

It’s going to be a hot, humid weekend in these parts.

Environment Canada has us under a heat warning. Meteorologist Steven Flisfeder says the heat moved in from Western Canada.

“The airmass has moved pretty much the entire length from the west coast staring in BC,” he outlines. “made its way across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and now it’s finally make its way to Northern Ontario.”

It’s expected to peak around 30 degrees tomorrow. Flisfeder says some relief is expected the next day, as rain and possibly thunderstorms begin.

“The heat warning is likely to stay in place through Sunday. But by the time those showers make their way across the region later on in the day Sunday, you’ll have a reduction in heat and a much cooler airmass.”

Flisfeder adds that by the time we get up on Monday, it will feel more seasonal.
