That flashy new white van you see on the streets of Kap belongs to the local food bank.
Coordinator Mel Breton says it’s the result of generous donations from three sources.
“Which is Le Centre de Santé Communautaire of Kapuskasing, the Knights of Columbus and of Kapuskasing,” she elaborates. “That means that we are now able to be self-sufficient in our operations.”
That self-sufficiency allows the food bank to pick up donations three times from a week from food retailers, and to haul the one-hundred-thousand dollars in groceries it buys every year.
