Silver Birches Pentecostal Camp near Kirkland Lake serves children from Cochrane, Iroquois Falls and around the north.
Bob Cox, who lives in Cochrane, has been director of the camp for about six years.

He and his wife dedicate all five weeks of their vacation to volunteering at Silver Birches. He says the camp is unique, in that it reserves two full weeks with parents, so they can attend with their children. They call it Family Camp.
“I would say that the family camp is kind of what I call the flagship event on the year. It’s where our financial base is drawn from,” he notes, adding “There’s also a uniquiely focussed kids’ camp, a uniquely focussed youth camp and another week there’s a uniquely focussed French camp that actually is run mostly by a group that comes out of Quebec.”
