Hydro One has given Kap Energy the go ahead to start generating power and making some money.
Kapuskasing Energy Inc. has been given the go ahead on four of its five FIT or feed-in-tariff program projects.
Therefore, Hydro One has allowed them to connect renewable energy to the hydro one distribution system and now begin generating power that will also mean Kapuskasing will be paid for their power generation.
Chair of Business, Industry and Public Relations Guylaine Scherer says the four sites are now online, but still at this time need to be commissioned.
Scherer says this will be done over the next few months, while the fifth and final site will be constructed over that same period of time, which will bring an end to the construction portion of the project.
She also says the last few months of work have been demanding, but together Hydro One, Sentinel Solar, Town of Kirkland Lake, Township of Matachewan, the IESO and town of Kapuskasing have done it.
