Kapuskasing will be giving to its local hospital’s CT scan, when the time is right.
Mayor Dave Plourde says council discussed the idea of supporting the hospital and their request for a contribution to the CT scan of $250,000, deciding not to lock in at that amount.
Plourde says there is no issue with the amount of funds asked, however, to what extent they will need to support the campaign is too early to tell.
“I think it’s important that we do support it, to what degree? Well that’s left to be seen and I think that if the numbers continue to grow like they are saying then maybe we won’t have to contribute financially but if it doesn’t we indicated that we will be there to support them.”
He says council feels it best to be patient as there may come a time in the near future they may need to help by donating a higher sum than the currently requested total.
Plourde says it is possible that leading up to the town’s 2020 budget, they may find the CT scan campaign sitting around $300,000 away from their goal, and he said it be disappointing to know they can’t re-adjust to add the extra $50,000 at that time if they lock in now at a $250,000 donation.
At last update Sensenbrenner Hospital Fundraising Coordinator Lianne Jean says the total of funds collected has reached $532,477.
